Landing Himself as the Executive Producer of a Fox International Pictures' New Project
With the release of the new American horror The Pyramid in Egyptian theatres in the last week of 2014, Egyptian producer/scriptwriter Mohamed Hefzy speaks about his experience as an executive producer in this upcoming spine-chilling film. The Pyramid is produced by Fox International Pictures, Sahara Productions and Silvatar Media.
Reflecting on his experience in the new Egyptology-themed American horror, Hefzy stated "As part of Film Clinic's efforts to diversify and broaden our reach beyond the Arab market, we felt The Pyramid was a great example of a commercially viable genre film distributed by a major US studio."
Directed by French filmmaker Gregory Levasseur, The Pyramid stars Ashley Hinshaw, James Buckley and Denis O'Hare. The hair-raising horror follows a team of American archaeologists who discover a lost pyramid unlike any other in the Egyptian desert. As they unearth the insidious secrets buried within this creepy pyramid, they realize they are hunted.
The Pyramid has hit theatres in December in several countries such as the USA and the UK and is slated to release across 32 countries including 5 Arab countries; namely, UAE, Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan and Egypt.
The Pyramid comes as part of Hefzy's international projects as a producer. He previously took part in the Emirati feature A to B, which had its world premiere at the opening ceremony of Abu Dhabi Film Festival (ADFF), marking the first Emirati film to open ADFF since its launching in 2007. Based on a story by the film's Emirati helmer Ali Mostafa, A to B is co-scripted by Mohamed Hefzy, Ashraf Hamdi and Ronnie Khalil and is directed by Ali Mostafa. The film is co-produced by Mostafa and Hefzy in collaboration with Paul Baboudjian, twofour54, Abu Dhabi, and Image Nation Abu Dhabi.
Film Clinic previously co-produced Sally El Hosaini's My Brother the Devil. The film received two awards from BFI London Film Festival and Sundance Film Festival.
