Raising the tally to six awards since last October!

Asma'a continues to reap awards from Oman to Switzerland

The Egyptian film Asma'a won two new awards, making that a total number of six film festival awards, since it's participation for the first time at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival in October 2011.
Asma'a, produced by Film Clinic and New Century Productions, won the Critics Award for Best Arab Film at the Muscat Film Festival, which was held in March 2012, in the Sultanate of Oman. Also, the film won the Audience Award at the end of the twenty-sixth session of the Fribourg International Film Festival.

The film has already won four awards: the award for Best Director and Best Actor at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, the Women's Cinema Award at the Mon's International Love Film Festival 2012 in Belgium, and the appreciation award at the Oran Arab Film Festival in Algeria. Asma'a has officially participated in many festivals, the most significant being the London International Film Festival, and Palm Springs Film Festival in California.

Last Month, the film also won five awards from the 38th Motion Pictures Association Film Festival, which are: Best Actress, Hend Sabry for her role as Asma'a, Best Director, Amr Salama, Best Screenplay, Amr Salama, Cinematography Award, Ahmed Gabr, and the Special Award from the Members of the Association was Best Film.

Based on a true story, the film is about a widow infected with AIDS, who faces extreme challenges with her community, due to their severe hostility to holders of the deadly virus. Hend Sabry plays the role of Asma'a in the film; this is her latest film since her last film Ibrahim AlAbyad, 2008, with the participation of Maged AlKidwany, Hany Adel, Sayed Ragab and Samia Asaad, written and directed by Amr Salama, introduced commercially in Cairo last December, in conjunction with World AIDS Day.
